Absa Grocery Stokvel

Save Together, Eat Better

Whether you’re planning a December stock-up, buying in bulk for your community, or helping each other save towards groceries, the Absa Grocery Stokvel Account is built for teamwork.

It’s made for groups — friends, family, or a formal stokvel — with interest that grows as your balance grows. Plus, there are no monthly management fees, and everyone in your group can stay informed with alerts and statements.

Key Benefits – Why Choose the Grocery Stokvel?

  • Tiered interest: Higher balances = higher interest earned.
  • Perfect for group savings: stokvels, clubs, families, or friends.
  • NotifyMe alerts keep up to three group members updated.
  • No monthly fees.
  • Enjoy benefits of online banking:
    • Pay out members anywhere, anytime.
    • Get electronic statements.
    • Track member contributions easily.
    • Reduced transactional fees.

How Does the Interest Work?

  • You earn 4.50% interest per year on any balance above R0.01.
  • Interest is calculated daily and paid monthly.
  • The more you save together, the more you earn as a group.

For larger groups with R100,000 or more, Absa may offer a discretionary rate — higher than the standard rate — depending on how much you keep in the account. (For the most accurate and up-to-date interest rates, please visit absa.co.za)
